McKendree Welcomes New Faculty and Staff Members

Lebanon, Ill. — McKendree University welcomes new staff and faculty members hired this summer:
 
Rebecca Schreiner, a St. Louis resident,is the new director of the Holman Library on campus. Most recently she was the public services manager at Round Rock Public Library near Austin, Texas. She is a former head of reference services at both academic and public libraries and served five years as associate dean and director of the Morton College Library and Hawthorne Works Museum in Cicero, Ill.
 
“I am delighted to be a part of this unique university steeped in history,” Schreiner said. “With an excellent library staff and in partnership with faculty, I hope to contribute to the goal of graduating students who have the information-seeking skills they will need to succeed in the workplace. I also look forward to providing library services that meet the interesting and varied research needs of the faculty.” 
 
Lisa Brennan, of Edwardsville, is the coordinator of first-generation student success and assistant director of the Writing Center on campus. She has taught English part-time at McKendree for the past four years and tutored in the Writing Center. The new position is funded by a Walmart College Success Award to allow the university to expand its programs and support for first-generation college students academically, socially, and financially.
 
Dr. Aurélie Capron, assistant professor of Spanish, comes to McKendree from Fayetteville State University in North Carolina, where she taught Spanish and French. She received her doctorate from the University of California Santa Cruz and master’s degrees from the University of Hawaii at Manoa.
 
Lori Goding, a Mascoutah resident, is the new payroll technician on campus. She attended high school and college in Terre Haute, Ind., and was employed for the last five years by Acclaim Personnel in Belleville.
 
McKendree also welcomes three new resident directors to the staff:

Joseph Saffold, of Aurora, Colo., was previously a resident assistant at Northwest Missouri State University, where he received a bachelor’s degree in 2010. He lives at the McKendree Suites. 

Heidi Thuesen is originally from Minnesota, where served as a resident assistant and assistant hall director at Winona State University and received her bachelor’s degree. She is assigned to Baker Hall. 

Matthew Tooley, resident director at the McKendree West apartments, is from North Syracuse, N.Y. He received a bachelor’s degree from State University of New York College at Cortland and most recently served as a resident director at Southern University in Baton Rouge, La.
