Financial Aid Counselor
FINANCIAL AID COUNSELOR
McKendree University is accepting applications for a Financial Aid Counselor position. This position is responsible for processing aid applications and counseling students and parents on all aspects of financial aid.
Qualifications: A bachelor’s degree and at least two years of experience in a financial aid office required along with comprehensive knowledge of federal and state financial aid laws and regulations. Demonstrated ability to learn and utilize computer software systems. Knowledge of computer software systems including Microsoft Office, NSLDS, Datatel, PowerFAIDS, and VAONCE is preferred. Sound interpersonal skills to relate sympathetically and sensitively with others yet with sufficient detachment to communicate understanding of rules, procedures, and policy. Ability to establish and maintain effective, cooperative and harmonious relationships with students, parents, staff, co-workers, and the general public is expected.
Candidates must also have exceptional customer service and organizational skills; strong oral and written communication skills; and the desire to work closely with a diverse student population. Experience as a School Certifying Official (SCO) is a plus.
