Assistant Professor of Special Education

McKendree University invites applications for a nine-month, tenure-track faculty position in Special Education to begin August 2010. Founded in 1828, McKendree is the oldest higher educational institution in the state of Illinois and the oldest institution in the United States with continuous ties to the United Methodist Church. The University has three schools and a traditional college of arts and sciences. The beautiful Lebanon, Illinois campus is located 25 minutes from downtown St. Louis, Missouri. McKendree also offers coursework at nearby Scott Air Force Base, two academic centers in Kentucky, and at several off-site locations in southern Illinois. The 2,400 undergraduate students have 39 majors from which to choose, and almost 1,000 graduate students pursue master’s degrees in education, business, nursing, and professional counseling.
Position specifics:
Special Education (#SPED48)
Assistant professor of Special Education in School of Education. Ed.D. or Ph.D. in special education or closely related field and three years of teaching experience as a certified/licensed special education teacher at the PK-12 level are required. The position includes the teaching of methods courses, the supervision of field experiences, and student teaching assignments.
Teaching load is 24 credit hours per year. Salary is competitive and commensurate with qualifications and experience.
